Sign up and Load the Application

Sign up is easy, fill out a very short form and download the desktop software. We are continually introducing new features, upgrades are a thing of the past, as long as you are a member you will be up-to-date. Join in the conversation, tell us your ideas about the future of LightRift and watch it grow, we are in this together.

Patch your Devices

Associating your device with a DMX channel is as simple as dragging and dropping the profile you want onto the channel you need. Patching multiple devices, no problem, enter the number of lights you want, even give them all unique names.

You can build, modify or use any profile from the library, with just a couple of clicks. Need help with device profiles, you can ask for it from our community of users, or you can simply ask us. The collection of profiles grows daily, if you are connected to the internet you have access to the entire library in real-time. We encourage sharing.

Create a Map of your Devices

Now you’re ready to turn on some lights. Simply drag your devices onto the map and arrange them any way you want. Group them or lay them out as they are in your space, make it logical or create pretty designs, you are in control here. While you’re in the map you can create a group of devices, this will allow you to control groups of fixtures together. With this, you can create an active “Magic Sheet” view, group cyc lights or washes or whatever you can come up with.

Are you continually turning on the same lights to the same colors? You can create a shortcut for instant recall with just a click. This is really great for those impromptu shows, make a couple clicks and you are ready to go. Maybe you have an inexperienced operator or a young student, no problem, create some shortcuts, add fade times to them and you’re off and running.

Connect to a control network

Ethernet and networking technology, in general, is the future. It is everywhere these days, phones, airplanes and even the toaster in your kitchen (we are on the fence about controlling these). With this as a medium, it gives you the greatest flexibility when it comes to how you connect and where you connect from. Let us know what protocols you are using and how we may include it.

Art-Net, which is a great format, is currently supported. The technology is affordable, easy to use and really stable. Simply add an Art-Net node to your network, configure it in LightRift as a universe and you’re ready to go.

Control Your Devices How You Want

Lastly, build a cue list to control the show. Like everything in LightRift, this is a simple job. Create the look you want then click the record button, name it, and add fade times. Cues can be triggered manually with a button click or they can be linked together to auto follow. When linking cues, you can add a wait time between the two so you can get the transition just right. Like us, do you sometimes forget what a cue is for? Add a separate note to each cue, something reminding you like, run this cue when the light switch is turned on.
